Invitations for the celebration of the 70th anniversary of victory over Nazism in World War II have been sent to the leaders of the CIS, BRICS, SCO, EU and anti-Hitler coalition countries, as well as regional and international organisations.

"About two dozen of them have accepted the invitations for the events scheduled for 9 May 2015 in Moscow," Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov said at a news conference on Russia's diplomatic performance in 2014.

"It's still awhile until 9 May, and confirmations continue to come in," he said.

"We must preserve the memory of how we joined forces to root out a criminal antihuman ideology that threatened the very survival of modern civilisation 70 years ago," Mr. Lavrov stressed.
