Exhibition planned on the Soviet Union’s role in WWII

In his address marking the start of Russia's SCO Presidency in 2014-2015, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the joint celebration by all SCO member states of the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II holds a special place on the 2015 calendar of events.

Planning is already underway for the exhibition, "The Role of the Soviet Union in the Victory over Fascism and the Liberation of the Far East", which will be held simultaneously in Beijing and Ufa.

"This is our chance to once again remind the world of the price paid by the anti-Hitler coalition and, of course, the peoples of the Soviet Union to defeat the Nazis. This is important and necessary for younger generations, WWII veterans and their families," says Ruslan Mirsayapov, Minister of the Republic of Bashkortostan, who heads the Organising Committee for the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting and the BRICS Summit in Ufa in 2015.

Celebrations of the 70th anniversary of victory will take place in all the SCO member states. SCO Leaders are also expected to issue a joint statement on the occasion following the summit in Ufa.
