SCO Secretary-General meets with Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs

On November 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Morgulov, who was in Beijing on a working visit, visited the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Secretariat at the invitation of SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev.

The two officials discussed Russia's SCO Presidency priorities in 2014-2015 and preparations for events that are planned as part of Russia's Presidency of the organisation as well as the ongoing work of experts on drafting an SCO Development Strategy towards 2025 and prospects for the SCO's expansion.

Igor Morgulov underscored the growing prestige of the SCO on the international arena and closer cooperation between the SCO member states and observer states and dialogue partners.

In addition, on October 29, 31 and on November 1, Dmitry Mezentsev met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Musinov, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erlan Abdyldayev and Foreign Minister of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Aslov. The meetings focused on questions related to current SCO activities.
