Briefing by SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev
The SCO Development Strategy Towards 2025, which is scheduled to be approved at the Ufa Summit, is more than an action plan for the next 10 years. This substantive document was drafted at Russia's initiative and with the participation of all SCO member states, SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev said at a briefing in Ufa. He said it was the first ever SCO document that marked the conclusion of the organisation's development stage and advance to a new level of cooperation.
Mezentsev said that the SCO heads of state would be offered several documents for signing including the Ufa Declaration, which reviews the SCO operation to date and sets new tasks, a programme of cooperation in combating terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2016-2018, as well as draft documents on SCO cooperation on border issues and drug trafficking. In addition, the SCO heads of state are expected to adopt a statement on the 70th anniversary of Victory over Nazism in World War II.
