Sergei Lavrov: Iran has sound prospects in the SCO

After the sanctions imposed on Iran are lifted, the country, together with India and Pakistan, has sound prospects to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation as a full member, Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov told Rossiya Segodnya.

"I personally think (I haven't consulted with my SCO colleagues yet) that we, foreign ministers, can very well recommend the presidents and prime ministers of the SCO member states to consider such a document for Iran," Mr. Lavrov said.

According to the Minister, the decision will depend on the results of talks with Iran, "if there is no disruption and we see that the principles have become practical arrangements," he said.
